Student and parent privacy
What we collect from students
- No account: nothing is stored. Quiz answers and tool inputs stay in the browser and are gone when the tab closes.
- With an account: an email address, a display name, and whatever the student chooses to save (quiz results, resume drafts, cover letters, saved programs). We do not ask for a home address, phone number, date of birth, school ID, or government ID.
- Analytics: anonymous page-view analytics run only after a visitor accepts cookies on the banner. Declining changes nothing about how the site works.
No selling, no ad targeting, no profiling
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We do not run advertising or advertising trackers. We do not build profiles of students or share their data with data brokers. Sponsors on the site are labeled and never receive user data.
Parental consent and control
- Students under 13: the site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
- Students 13 to 17: a parent or guardian may review, correct, or delete the student's account and saved work at any time. Email info@adultskilledtrades.com from an address that matches the account, or give us the account email and we will verify with you before acting.
- Schools running the Classroom Kit with students under 18 should obtain whatever consent their district requires; nothing in the kit requires a student account.
Data retention and deletion
- Saved work stays in the account until the student or a parent deletes it, or until the account has been inactive for 24 months, after which it is deleted.
- Deletion requests are completed within ten business days and confirmed by email. Backups are purged within 30 days after that.
- Text sent to the AI tools is not stored by us and is not used to train models. See how the AI tools handle your data.
FERPA
We do not receive education records from schools. Nothing on the site asks a school to upload grades, transcripts, attendance, or any other record covered by FERPA. If a school chooses to use the Student Intake tool, the school's own staff enter the information into the school's private workspace; the site acts as a service provider for that data, uses it only to provide the tool, and does not disclose it. Districts that need a signed data-sharing agreement can request one at the address above.
State student privacy laws
Several states apply specific duties to online services likely to be used by children. Our practices are designed to meet them: no sale of data, no targeted advertising, no profiling, data minimization, parental access and deletion, and plain-language notice. If your state requires a specific written commitment, ask and we will provide it.
